Still Alive...and Still Eating
Um, hello? Anyone there? I can’t tell if I’m the only person left in the world or not.
Oh wait, I seem to recall how the girl on the bus stabbed me with her umbrella on the way out the door unbeknownst to mommy dearest yammering away on her phone, and how the driver of the train closed the doors right in my face after I risked my life running down the wet stops and rushing onto the platform. Business as usual here.
I’m pretty glad the world didn't end. Mostly because I had to haul a bag of Christmas gifts for coworkers into work today and I would have been bummed not to deliver them. Especially after I slaved away last night. If by slaving away you mean sampling every other Hershey’s Hug and piece of popcorn, while twirling around to the Nutcracker suite, then yes, yes I was slaving away.
Tell me you wouldn’t want to receive either of these pretty little treats.
They were actually pretty easy. And this is coming from a girl who two months ago didn’t know the difference between kale and spinach (although what that has to do w/ baking, I have no idea. I guess I just wanted to impress you w/ my knowledge of leafy greens).
For the Christmas Crunch, I couldn’t find popcorn w/out any butter. I went w/ the lightest butter option, but there were still a bunch of yellow pieces (eww). I actually think it enhanced the overall flavor. The sweet, mixed with the salty, paired up w/ a touch of butter; how can you go wrong? (or maybe I’m just trying to convince myself)
My only other issue was that I couldn’t find the white chocolate melts the recipe mentioned, so I bought Lindt white chocolate bars. They were super easy to melt and worked perfectly, but I don’t think I had enough (I couldn’t do the ounce calculations in my head fast enough because three separate kids were throwing three separate tantrums and I had to get out of there. Note to self: don’t visit the candy aisle before dinner time. Or have kids. Ever).
Other than that, the only problem was my heavy hand w/ the sprinkles and dealing w/ the aftermath of that bomb. But look how pretty it turned out.
The pretzel M&M Hershey’s Hugs were SO EASY! I was stunned. I mean, it’s there in black and white in the recipe. Minimal ingredients, fool-proof directions. But I was still skeptical (especially after my “fool-proof” smoothie recipe ended up in the garbage b/c it tasted like shit).
No exaggeration here, these were a piece of cake. In fact, that expression “piece of cake?” It should be changed to “peice of pretzel M&M Hershey’s Hugs” b/c they were THAT easy. Although that doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, does it?
